“Go Away”: NFL Fans Divided Over Aaron Rodgers Potential Return for the 2026 Campaign
Aaron Rodgers declared his 2025 season would be his last. Now, a new report suggests the 42-year-old quarterback may not be done after all. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero believes Rodgers could return to the Pittsburgh Steelers, reigniting debate among fans.
Speaking to Rich Eisen, Pelissero said, “The odds are rising that he comes back. I don’t see it being any place else. If he’s going to play, I believe it’s going to be for the Pittsburgh Steelers.”
Speculation has surrounded Aaron Rodgers' offseason, as the 42-year-old quarterback previously stated the 2025 season would be his last.
Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, he had said, “Yeah, I’m pretty sure this is it. That’s why we just did a one-year deal. The Steelers didn’t need to put any extra years on that or anything, so this was really about finishing with a lot of love and fun and peace for the career that I’ve had. I mean, I’ve played 20 freaking years. It’s been a long run, and I’ve enjoyed it. What better place to finish than one of the cornerstone franchises of the NFL?”
However, Rodgers’ season stats with the Steelers did not suggest a player ready for retirement. He recorded 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions, and completed 327 of his 498 passes (65.7%).
The numbers do prove that Rodgers might yet have another season left in him. Fans, however, are divided on this news.
Fans Are Divided on News of Rodgers’ Return
In his 20-year career, Aaron Rodgers has accumulated 66,274 passing yards and 527 touchdowns, with his name appearing in rankings of the top 5 NFL quarterbacks of all time.
One fan couldn’t contain his excitement when he wrote, “The GOAT running it back one more time??? Let’s get it”. Another fan chimed in “We want you @AaronRodgers12 @steelers lfg”
Some fans, however, seem to think that Rodgers has overstayed his welcome in the NFL and are frustrated by the confusing news regarding his return.
CBS Sports’ Aditi Kinkhabwala had earlier reported that the chances of Rodgers returning were “minuscule”. One fan wrote regarding this, “But Aditi said she talked to people close to him. He’s likely done. These reporters man… smh.”
After Rodgers himself admitted that he isn't going to be returning, news of his return has shaken some fans. “S**** all over the place. One week I hear he isnt the next I hear he is,” one fan commented.
But not all fans were happy. One commented, "GO AWAY, AARON…" This comes after a series of disappointing performances, including one against the Houston Texans in the playoffs, where Rodgers scored no points. That's why one fan added, "Noooooooooooo."
