“Cleveland knows they're not going to the Super Bowl. They know they don't have the pieces in place to get there. You know damn well y'all not about to win this game today. And guess what? 70-plus thousand show up every damn Sunday when they know damn well they're not going to win. I take my hat off to Cleveland fans. I don't know how y'all do it.”

Sharpe’s comments highlight the unusual relationship between the Browns and their supporters. The team has faced disappointment after disappointment, yet the fanbase continues showing up.

For Cleveland, that support is valuable, especially while the organization tries to settle its quarterback situation and build a more competitive team. The fans have certainly done their part, even when the results have not followed.

Deshaun Watson Does Not Want to Fight With Browns Fans

Watson has also addressed his complicated relationship with Cleveland supporters. Ahead of the home opener, he made it clear that he does not want tension with the fanbase.

“I never try to go to war with the fans. So I think the biggest thing is just ready for support, ready to feel their energy, ready to get this big dub for the city of Cleveland.”

That message reflects how important the fans remain to Watson and the Browns. After everything surrounding his return, winning football could be the simplest way to rebuild that connection.

For now, Cleveland’s supporters continue turning up. Sharpe may have questioned how they do it, but their loyalty remains one of the Browns’ most recognizable traits.
