Denzel Boston has quickly gone from second-round rookie to one of the Browns' most important offensive weapons. Cleveland selected Boston 39th overall in the 2026 NFL Draft, and many expected him to develop behind the team's established receivers. Instead, two games into his career, Boston has already become a major part of the offense.

The Washington product entered the league with questions about his speed despite strong college production. He recorded 62 catches for 881 yards and 11 touchdowns during his final season, showing plenty of ability as a receiver.

Field Yates recently suggested on ESPN Cleveland that the NFL may have overthought Boston during the draft process. The biggest concern centered around his speed, but Boston has quickly challenged that assessment.

“The NFL probably overthought it there on Denzel Boston. The big question mark on him was the speed. Well, he's had two long touchdowns, so speed is not an issue in the first two weeks.”

Boston has backed that up immediately. He has recorded seven catches for 154 yards and two touchdowns through two games, including 95 yards and a score against Tampa Bay. More importantly, he has leapfrogged Jerry Jeudy and K.C. Concepcion to become Deshaun Watson's leading receiver.

That is a remarkable start for a player many expected to fill a part-time WR3 role. Cleveland will now hope Boston can maintain that production as the season continues.

Denzel Boston's rapid rise could have consequences for Jerry Jeudy. The veteran receiver has struggled to establish himself as a central piece, while Boston and Concepcion have given Cleveland younger alternatives.

Reports have linked Jeudy with potential interest from the Raiders, Dolphins and 49ers. A trade would create even more opportunities for Boston to become a focal point.

For Cleveland, Boston's emergence could represent a major shift in its receiver room. The rookie was supposed to develop gradually, but he is already producing like a starting weapon.
