NFL Free Agency Updates: New Home for Fields, Jaylen Waddle Traded & More

NFL Free Agency for the 2026 season is seeing teams move decisively to bolster their rosters. We bring here a quick rundown of major free agency trades across different franchises.

After just one season with the New York Jets, quarterback Justin Fields has moved to the Kansas City Chiefs. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets got a 2027 sixth-round pick for letting the quarterback go.

In a blockbuster move, the Miami Dolphins have traded away Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos along with a fourth-round pick. In exchange, they received a 2026 first-round pick and additional third and fourth-round selections.

The addition of Waddle has reinforced the Broncos’ offense. He is also now reunited with Patrick Surtain II, as they used to be teammates at Alabama.

The Detroit Lions have signed edge rusher D.J.Wonnum to a $6 million, one-year deal. He was previously with the Carolina Panthers for two seasons. After letting Al-Quadin Muhammad leave for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, D.J. Wonnum should help replace him.

The Indianapolis Colts are expected to sign former Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt. Taylor-Britt has spent four seasons with the Bengals and appeared in 38 games, recording 151 solo tackles and 7 interceptions.

The Philadelphia Eagles have signed a strong wide receiver in Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, after he had a standout 49 catches, 587 yards, and 5 touchdowns season with the Kansas City Chiefs. He has signed a one-year, $6.5 million deal with the Eagles.

Other notable moves include the Houston Texans’ signing of veteran guard Wyatt Teller for a $16 million, 2-year contract. The San Francisco 49ers signed wide receiver Christian Kirk to a one-year, $6 million deal.

Darius Slay, Philadelphia Eagles 6-time Pro Bowl cornerback, has also announced his retirement after 13 seasons in the NFL.

The NFL Draft will play a key role in supplementing free agency signings

With multiple mock drafts being released ahead of the 2026 draft, Mel Kiper of ESPN has released his updated draft after the 2026 Combine.

To no one’s surprise, the No.1 pick remains Fernando Mendoza to be picked up by the Las Vegas Raiders.  With center Tyler Linderbaum now signed to the Raiders via free agency, it will serve as good protection for the young rookie.

At No.2, he predicts the New York Jets to pick edge rusher David Bailey. He had earlier predicted safety Caleb Downs to be No.2 for the Jets.

Arvell Reese is to be the No.3 pick for the Arizona Cardinals. Kiper thinks Reese can be a great running mate for Josh Sweat.

The NFL draft is set to start on April 23 and will be a 3-day event held in Pittsburgh.
