Maxx Crosby Ditches Jerry Jones Last Hopes With Major Decision

Mar 25, 2026, 11:30 AM CUT

It looked like there was still a chance, until that door suddenly closed. Maxx Crosby’s latest move has now shut down what many believed was still in play for Jerry Jones.

Speaking on The Rich Eisen Show, Tom Pelissero cleared all the doubts regarding the re-signing of defensive end (DE) Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders.

“Maxx wants to be a Raider. He's no longer trying to get out of Las Vegas. Maxx doesn't want to go anywhere,” said Tom Pelissero.

Also, Crosby has doubled down on that mindset, calling himself a “Raider for life,” effectively shutting down any trade buzz surrounding him.

Maxx Crosby reportedly failed a physical and an MRI with the Baltimore Ravens before his deal, signaling that he is not fully recovered from his torn meniscus injury. Later, the potential deal was dropped. Meanwhile, Jones wanted Crosby to fill the void made by the release of Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers.

Jerry Jones addressed the situation, saying, “We’re pretty far down the road relative to what our plans are. So while I don’t anticipate it, I don’t want to rule anything out.”

Apparently, with his present condition, the Dallas Cowboys still made him three offers. The first offer included the No. 20 overall pick, an additional first-round selection, and defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa.

The second offer was centered around their top pick, No. 12 overall, along with a third-round selection. In this one, Osa Odighizuwa was not a part of the deal. Finally, restructuring again, the Cowboys made the third offer with the No. 12 pick and added a future second-rounder in the 2027 draft.

What Maxx Crosby’s Decision Means for His Future With the Raiders

The trade interest from teams like the Baltimore Ravens was real, and at one point, there was enough momentum for a deal to be explored seriously. With his failed physical, the deal of two first-round picks is out of the picture for the Raiders.

By choosing to stay, he reinforces stability in a unit that revolves around his production and leadership.

Even amid trade talks, the message from inside the building stayed consistent: “Maxx is a Raider, and we want him here.”

But he may not last in the Raiders forever. The failed physical added another layer to the situation, raising concerns for the Raiders as well.

The Raiders were never in a position where they needed to move him, and Crosby wasn’t forcing their hand either. That alignment between player and franchise is what ultimately closed the door on any deal.
