Drake's Curse Strikes Again as Patriots and Drake Maye Left in Tears
Fans might have predicted the New England Patriots' bitter Super Bowl LX loss. And that's because one rapper had backed the team to win the Lombardi.
We're talking about Canadian rapper Drake, who bet on the Patriots upstaging the Seahawks. He posted on Instagram on Saturday, showing his $1 million bet on the Patriots, captioning the post, “Bet against me if you dare.” He would have gained an estimated $2.9 million had the Patriots won.
Long-time fans of the rapper might already know of the Drake curse. Earlier in the season, when the Ravens took on the Chiefs, the rapper lost out on his $250,277 bet made on Baltimore winning.
But that's not all. Since 2022, Drake has made 12 bets on the Super Bowl, losing on 8 of them. The curse held true once again.
The curse began to gain momentum after Drake publicly lost out on many bets, going as far back as 2016, when he lost to French Montana about his NBA Finals predictions.
The betting curse also spread to tennis, where he incorrectly predicted that Jannik Sinner would win the US Open last year.
More recently, he lost a bet on the 2025 NBA finals as well as the Toronto Maple Leafs losing to the Florida Panthers in 2025.
However, the rapper's predictions are not always wrong.
Drake’s curse has plagued teams across sports
His curse does not strike every time, as evidenced by his successful bet on the Kansas City Chiefs winning the Super Bowl in 2022. But that's not the only one.
The rapper even spoke on this in 2025, saying, "The Drake Curse is funny to me, honestly. First of all, the Raptors won a championship, so nobody could ever talk to me about the Drake Curse.”
In this case, there were multiple reasons behind the Patriots' failures. Drake Maye was reportedly playing through an injury, leading to one of his worst games of the season. At the same time, the Patriots were criticized for an easier schedule and struggled against a rampant Seahawks.
What do you think? Were the Patriots struck by the Drake’s curse?
