Browns Linked to Nick Saban's Ex-Player at No. 6 Pick in Latest NFL Mock Draft

The Cleveland Browns hold a premium pick, and they already have a plan on how to use it. A Nick Saban-coached playmaker with elite production is now firmly in the mix for their offensive line.
As reported by CBS Sports, in Mike Renner's latest mock draft, the Browns will try to put their hands on the wide receiver Kadyn Proctor of the Alabama Crimson Tide as their No. 6th overall pick.
He is a graduate of the Saban camp after the former Alabama head coach flipped the five-star offensive lineman from in-state Iowa back in 2022. What makes him a prime target for Todd Monken's Cleveland?
The Browns have a major void on their offensive line with no real starting-caliber left tackles. That's where Saban's student fits in.

The two-time All-American wrapped up the 2025 season with an 81.8 pass-blocking grade and an 81.6 run-blocking mark as a junior. He surrendered just two sacks all year. Proctor is also a force in the run game, making him the perfect weapon Monken wants to establish on the ground.
He is known for his ability to function as a powerful "people mover" at left tackle while displaying unusual agility for a 6'7", 350-plus pound player.
“Proctor, for his size, is as athletic as anyone you’re ever going to find," Saban said in an interview last year.
These numbers highlight a massive leap in consistency from his freshman year, when he surrendered 12 sacks.
During the 2026 NFL Combine, he completed his 40-yard dash in 5.21 seconds. Along with it, he put a 32.5-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-1 broad jump. It is rare for his stature to show high athleticism.
Competition the Cleveland Browns Will Face to Land Kadyn Proctor
Walking into the 2026 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs are in the best position, holding three selections inside the top 40. Even though, unlike the Browns, they might not have an overwhelming need to land an offensive tackle, they would still be interested in Proctor.
After all, there is a void in the right side of the line after they released three-year starting right tackle Jawaan Taylor this offseason. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Chiefs have already hosted Proctor.
He was also hosted by the Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles, and Detroit Lions, among others. His latest visit was to the San Francisco 49ers camp.
While Proctor's draft stock soars, NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. came with a warning sign for the Browns and the rest. After all, the former Alabama player did go through a rough phase.
"You can't have hiccups in the NFL. You can't have that. These guys are the best in the world you're going up against," said the analyst. "But in college, that's not the case. You can pick and choose."
Despite his Day 1 potential, Kadyn Proctor has not been perfect. He struggled in the opener versus Florida State, surrendering six pressures and a sack. There were stretches in both 2024 and 2023 where his performance dipped.
