Shedeur Sanders was ranked at or near the top of NIL valuations ($4 to $5 million)during his time at Colorado. Who would have thought he would be called broke in his NFL career?

Sanders was present at the Twitch Rivals Streamer Bowl VII on February 4, 2026, with his brother, Shilo, and New York Giants RB Cam Skattebo. The two were having fun when the conversation turned to balloons.

Sanders asked, “Hey, why can’t we get some balloons?” Skattebo, sensing the perfect opportunity to tease the QB, replied, “Because you didn’t buy ’em, you’re broke. We bought the Turtle."

The Browns QB replied, "we didn't buy the turtle." Skattebo continued the teasing, saying, "You mad 'cause you're broke, asking for it." It was a light-hearted exchange between the two that brought laughter from Sanders and the live audience.

The event itself was light-hearted as stars like Micah Parsons, Jaxson Dart, and the Kelce brothers joined streamers to compete in games and challenges. It also featured a $50,000 charity prize pool, and Team Pink won. But Skattebo's words weren't completely out of context.

After being selected 144th overall in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Shedeur Sanders signed his rookie deal with the Cleveland Browns. It is a four-year deal worth about $4.6 million in total with an average annual salary of $1.16 million.

It ranks him near the bottom of the rookie salary rankings for the class of 2025. And that wasn't all.
