Wyatt Teller’s Browns Future in Question After IR Move
“I don’t want it to be, but if it is, it is. And I enjoyed our time here.” Wyatt Teller addressed reporters after landing on IR on Wednesday following his calf injury.
His tone suggested that his tenure with the Browns may have ended after they placed him on IR, and Mary Kay Cabot later noted that on the Orange and Brown Talk podcast.
“I think he spoke like a man who was on his way out of Cleveland today,” Cabot observed. “When we did talk to him, he sounds like he sees that the writing is on the wall. No talks have taken place about an extension between his agent and the Cleveland Browns.”

The Browns traded a fifth and sixth-round draft picks for 2020 in exchange for Teller in 2019. 2 years later, he signed a four-year extension with the team worth $56.8 million, averaging $14.2 million per season, with roughly $29 million guaranteed. But that might have been his last season with the Browns.
Podcast host Dan Labbe noted, “He was already rotating with Teven Jenkins when he was healthy, so he had fallen out of favor on the field a little bit.” In late November 2025, the Browns began rotating snaps at right guard between him and Teven Jenkins, with Jenkins getting more playing time.
This season alone, Wyatt Teller has earned a 62.2 overall PFF grade, ranking 40th out of 80 guards, with a 53.1 pass-blocking grade (63rd) and a 65.7 run-blocking grade (31st). He played 765 offensive snaps, allowed 3 sacks, 1 hit, and 24 total pressures, while committing 4 penalties. That might not have been good enough for the team, and he has accepted it.
But Wyatt Teller is ready for the worst
Teller said in the press conference that he would love to stay with the Browns, noting that his family is already here. He and his wife, Carly, became fixtures in the community, embodying the blue-collar ethos that resonates with Browns fans. But he is ready for the sad ending.
”I would love a little bit more confidence going in, but everything’s going to be OK,” Teller said. “If no teams call, it’s going to be all right. If a bunch of teams call, it’s going to be great. It’s a frustrating ending, so it’s going to be a hard sell, but hopefully I find a home.”
This would be his first time entering free agency, and teams like the Titans, the Raiders, and the Jets could use an experienced OL like him. Let us know what you think in the comments.
