Wyatt Teller’s Agent Takes Shot at Browns After Guard Joins Texans in Free Agency

Former Cleveland Browns guard Wyatt Teller has joined their AFC rivals by signing with the Houston Texans. If that wasn't enough, it appears that now, Teller's agent, Andy Ross, has taken a dig on Instagram at his former franchise of more than half a decade.

“My POV - The Browns will still wish they resigned Wyatt at some point.. But onto the Texans now,” read Ross's Instagram story caption, according to Houston Stressans on X.

Despite posting his worst PFF grade (62.2) since 2019, Teller’s agent believes that it was a mistake on the Browns’ part in not retaining the veteran guard, and he's made his feelings clear about it.

The now 31-year-old guard was a fifth-round pick for Buffalo as he spent his worst NFL season with the Bills, posting a PFF grade of 60.2. After that, he spent the next seven seasons with the Cleveland Browns.

During his time with the Browns, Teller was named a Pro Bowler three times in a row between 2021 and 2023. At his peak, the guard ranked 1st among all guards according to PFF with a 92.7 ranking in the 2019 NFL season.

Once among the best in the NFL, this exit was expected as the Browns are looking to overhaul their whole offense, and Teller makes way for other players. The Browns rotated Teller towards the end of last season with Teven Jenkins because he picked up a calf injury. In week 17, Teller returned, but this only aggravated his calf injury further.

Though the agent wasn't too happy with the franchise's decision, Teller posted on Instagram thanking the Browns organisation and fans.

“I wish things were different, and this is hard to put into words. When Buffalo traded me to Cleveland seven years ago. I never could have imagined how much this city took a chance on me that changed the trajectory of my life forever,” Teller wrote in his farewell message.

Over the years, the franchise had grown accustomed to having him, as he only missed 10 regular-season games in his time at Cleveland. But at 31, other concerns were looming.

Why Did the Browns Let Wyat Teller Go Amidst an Offensive Overhaul?

Former Cleveland Browns legendary cornerback, Hanford Dixon, believes that he knows the real reason the Browns did not retain their veteran guard.

“When you look at Wyatt (Teller), I liked him," the former cornerback revealed on his show (The Top Dawgs Show). "You talk about the big problem about him was keeping healthy."

In the last two years, Teller had missed eight regular-season games, and his re-aggravated injury issues meant that protection for then-rookie quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders was not a given.

“I’m not going to say that we couldn’t depend on him, but, in a way, we couldn’t depend on him because he stayed injured so much," Dixon added. "When he’s going and clicking, he’s a Pro Bowl-type player.”

In November, Teller will be turning 32, so he is not getting any younger. After some memorable seasons, the franchise never attempted to re-sign the player, as revealed by Teller's agent.
