JJ McCarthy sure has an exciting season to look forward to this year. But the Minnesota Vikings quarterback also has a major personal win to celebrate!

McCarthy is now officially a married man. The 23-year-old married his high-school sweetheart, Katya Kuropas, in an intimate ceremony this weekend.

The quarterback proposed to Kuropas on 20 January, 2024, and the couple shared pictures of the day with their dog Marley. The couple welcomed their son, Rome, in September 2025. 

McCarthy and Kuropas have been together since 2018, when the two were in high school. Kuropas has been by his side this whole time, watching him bring Michigan's second-ever National Championship, and getting picked as the 10th overall pick in the 2024 draft.

"a dream come true," Kuropas shared on Instagram after McCarthy was drafted.

McCarthy's time in the NFL hasn't been smooth sailing, since he missed his rookie season because of an injury. He debuted in the last season, which was also marred by injuries, and threw 11 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and 1,632 yards. But Katya Kuropas continued to cheer for her now-husband, attending games.

Sharing a series of images that defined 2025 for the couple. Katya Kuropas wrote on Instagram, "this chapter of life>>>> [white heart]" McCarthy not only played last year, but he also got to experience fatherhood at the same time.

But in 2026, JJ McCarthy is starting a whole new chapter, now married to the most special person in his life. Fans showered love on the happy couple.

One fan congratulated the newlyweds, and wished McCarthy the best both in this front and on the field.

“Aww, Congratulations JJ and Mrs. McCarthy!" they wrote. "Football isn’t everything, family is. I hope you can excel in both though.”

“Happy for him!!" another fan commented. "I thought he already was married- kid and all- but no matter. Really hope he’s happy and goes into this seasons training with his head clear and ready to prove he belongs! And I’m happy he got married now and not during training camp or mid season lol!!”

Fans are still rooting for JJ McCarthy to perform well in the upcoming season. They alluded to the negative chatter around his future, since he still has to fight some competition in the depth chart. But when he has his family by his side, it will all get easier for him.

Another comment fell along the same lines. 

“Congratulations to the McCarthy's. Our family wishes them well in their future. JJ, you WILL BE OUR QUARTERBACK. We believe in you,” it read.

"One ring down nine more to go for our future GOAT and GEQBUS!" one fan cheered. "Can I get a nine-nine??"

No matter how many rings JJ McCarthy wins, this one will be his most treasured one! Moreover, he already has a ring to begin with, having won the National Championship in 2023. It is only a matter of time before he adds more.
