Who Is Dianna Russini? All About Senior NFL Insider Mired in Controversy With Mike Vrabel
The off-field images of Dianna Russini with Mike Vrabel, the New England Patriots’ head coach, became a topic of discussion online after they surfaced earlier this week.
While both entities have decades-long careers in the NFL, Russini has been on the other side of the camera, reporting and analyzing the league.
Russini is a senior NFL insider for The Athletic. On Tuesday, Page Six published an exclusive with Russini and Vrabel “holding hands and hugging at a luxurious hotel” in Arizona.
“The photos don’t represent the group of six people who were hanging out during the day,” Russini stated.
Steven Ginsberg, The Athletic’s executive editor, also made a public statement about the interaction.
“These were public interactions in front of many people,” Ginsberg said. “Dianna is a premier journalist covering the NFL, and we're proud to have her at The Athletic.”
Russini joined the New York Times-owned newsroom in 2023 after working as a reporter/analyst at ESPN for eight years. As per a social media post she made in 2023, Russini has covered three Super Bowl games for ESPN.
At the sports broadcasting network, she worked as a senior reporter and conducted high-profile interviews across shows like “SportsCenter,” “NFL Live,” “Sunday NFL Countdown,” and “Get Up.”
At the time she was hired, Russini was the youngest reporter at WNBC in New York City and was the main sports anchor at WRC-TV in Washington, DC.
She has also worked at Comcast SportsNet Northwest (CSN Northwest), News 12 Westchester, and NBC affiliate WVIT in Connecticut.
Dianna Russini’s Life off the Field
Her interest in sports goes a long way. As a college athlete, Russini played Division I soccer for four seasons at George Mason University.
Apart from her coverage with The Athletic, she is a co-host of the podcast “Scoop City: Inside The NFL,” alongside former quarterback Chase Daniel. It was launched in July 2024.
Russini is married to Kevin Goldschmidt, the vice president of total rewards and HR technology at Shake Shack.
The two reportedly met and began dating in 2015 and tied the knot in 2020. The couple has two sons.
Goldschmidt has not commented on the images that surfaced online. The personal matters between the two sides remain outside the scope of public comment.
