"Went Out Swinging": Deion Sanders Praises Shilo Sanders' Spirit Despite NFL Failure

Deion Sanders is defending his son Shilo's difficult journey after the 2025 NFL Draft. Speaking on First Take, Coach Prime praised his son's spirit, revealing how a preseason exit and a physical altercation defined his short-lived pro career.

“It was a tough year for the Sanders. Getting our b**** kicked at CU. Shilo getting cut... Shilo went out swinging... I have to give him that. He went out swinging, literally,” he laughed.

The 2025 Draft saw Shilo become an undrafted agent, later being picked up by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, the former Colorado safety's career took a downturn after he punched Buffalo Bills’ tight end Zack Davidson. He was fined $4,669 and ejected for the physical altercation.

At the time, Coach Prime remained optimistic about Shilo. "We're praying that he gets another opportunity to go with a team, but if he doesn't, the plans have already been put forward to what he's going to do next."

And sure enough, Shilo recovered. After he could not become a pro baller, Shilo took to becoming an influencer in his own style. He has doubled his existing online presence with his vlogs featuring his family and sports.

He has over a million Instagram followers and a YouTube channel with nearly 300K subscribers. In 2024, Shilo had walked a Louis Vuitton show in Paris. And he was invited to the city’s Fashion Week this year, too.

While Shilo has found a new path, his younger brother, Shedeur, faces his own set of professional challenges.

And Deion Sanders Brought Them Up in the Same Episode of Smith’s Show

When asked about the possibility of moving to the pro league from college football, Deion flat-out dismissed it.

“Not whatsoever. What transpired with my son last year? Ain’t no way in the world,” Deion said.

After being hyped as a star QB, Shedeur was picked up as a fifth-round, 144th pick. Even then, he was QB4, getting his first chance to take the field in the regular season in Week 11. Despite that, Shedeur ended the season as QB 1 with 7 touchdowns for 1,400 yards and is still the subject of massive debate in the NFL community.

While the Browns haven't decided whether he will be the starter in the next season, Deion thinks his son has proved his worth. Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
