Vikings QB Max Brosmer Gets Honest Over 1st Potential Start Heading Into Seahawks Clash

Nov 29, 2025, 11:00 AM CUT

The Vikings' nightmare just got worse. They are already out of the playoffs with another humiliating loss, this time to the Green Bay Packers in Week 12 with a 6-23 score, and now, even McCarthy is out due to a concussion! However, it's not all bad news, since it has given the chance for a young player to make his first ever start for the team.

As fans may already know, Max Brosmer will be starting. The undrafted free agent had agreed to a three-year contract worth about $2.975 million, and though he has played three games before, this would be his first as a starting QB.

In an interview, Brosmer was asked about how he felt training with the starting offense. “It's a great week, man. It's a lot of fun being there with the guys and, you know, applying kind of what I felt like I've learned over the past, you know, the rest of the, much of the season so far. And, you know, just again, it's a blessing to be out here with the guys, and I'm very grateful for it and can't wait to go out there on a Sunday with the guys.”

Under normal circumstances, it would have been Carson Wentz, but he injured his left shoulder badly (dislocation, torn labrum, fracture) in early October 2025. He kept playing through the pain for a couple of games, but eventually the injury got too serious, and he was put on injured reserve and had season-ending surgery.

Brosmer was also asked about what was different this week, to which he noted that “everyone’s an all-star, everyone’s an all-pro when you’re not taking the reps,” describing how being the quarterback in the back, taking only mental reps, feels very different from actually running the offense. When the team reached their crucial third-down practice day, he said it was a wake-up moment and a reminder of what it’s like to be “the guy” again.

He would also be writing history on Sunday.

Vikings QB Max Brosmer to be etched in history books

When he starts against the Seahawks on Sunday, Max Brosmer will become the one of the first Minnesota Gopher QB Graduates to start in the NFL in nearly fourty years. The Vikings QB played college football first at the University of New Hampshire, and then for his final college season (2024), he transferred to the University of Minnesota and played there for one year.

In three games this season, Brosmer has recorded a completion rat of 42 yards, which might not seem very good, but he had a great summer. In the 2025 preseason, he completed 15 of 23 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown without turnovers, including a precise 36-yard deep pass in his final tuneup game. More importantly, he has the coach's nod.

Vikings HC, O’Connell had said, "What I love about Max is, there were some breakdowns up front, and maybe he couldn't progress and read through concepts. But he plays with very fast eyes and very rarely puts the ball in harm's way when he's doing it, which is a unique trait.” Now, Brosmer needs to walk the walk so that his spot on the Vikings side doesn't got to waste.
