2 NFL Teams Just Confirmed Browns Nailed KC Concepcion Pick
With the Cleveland Browns already receiving praise for how they went about the 2026 NFL Draft, the latest report suggested two teams wished they had landed the Browns’ round-one pick, KC Concepcion.
Senior NFL reporter Jori has revealed that two teams, one NFC and another AFC, were targeting KC Concepcion before the Browns landed him.
“Before the Seahawks draft running back Jadarian Price to end the round, an NFC general manager texts Berry: ‘We were trying to move up for KC. Good pick.’ And [director of player personnel Adam] Al-Khayyal receives a message from an AFC team saying that 'if they’d traded back, they would have taken KC.’”
Concepcion, the Texas A&M Aggies wide receiver, was the 24th overall pick on Day 1. While he was widely considered a Top-40 prospect, he was drafted before Jadarian Price.
He became the first Aggie to receive the Paul Hornung Award, making him 2025’s most versatile player on the collegiate level. Concepcion led his program with 61 receptions for 919 yards, and his nine receiving touchdowns were tied for the most in the SEC.
The 21-year-old’s college career spans across two programs. He spent two seasons at North Carolina between 2023 and 2024 before becoming an Aggie.
He’s scored 25 receiving touchdowns from 185 receptions and three rushing TDs from 70 carries in his collegiate career.
The Browns landed Concepcion as an extension of their 2025 trade deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars received Travis Hunter while the Browns received three picks in the 2025 draft and one in the 2026 draft, which they utilized on Concepcion.
As the prospect begins his NFL journey with the Browns, Concepcion has decided on his jersey number.
The Special Reason Behind KC Concepcion’s Jersey Number
In an X post shared on 27 April, the Browns revealed Concepcion’s jersey. The wide receiver then explained why he picked No.17 for himself.
“This is right here, nice. I was number one in high school, and then in my final year in college, I was number seven. There you go, put it together. Seventeen.”
Concepcion’s 2025 drop rate stood at 10.3%, which was a point of contention. But has reassured fans and critics that he will improve.
In a season where the most receiving yards were gained by a tight end, Harold Fannin Jr., with 731 yards, and not a wide receiver, Concepcion could very quickly fit into the team.
