$244.4 Billion Rich Jeff Bezos Reportedly Interested in Buying $7 Billion NFL Franchise

Rumors of the Seattle Seahawks getting sold shortly after the Super Bowl are making rounds, and Jeff Bezos, valued at $244.4 Billion, has been linked to the sale.

Since the franchise owner, Paul G. Allen, passed away in 2018, it was only a matter of time before the Seahawks were sold.

NFL insider Jonathan Jones shared ESPN's Seth Wickersham and Brady Henderson's post on X on January 30 about the Seahawks' sale. “The eventual sale of the Seahawks and Jeff Bezos has been a potential connection for some time,” Jones added in his post.

Despite Bezos’ noticeable investments in multiple companies, he has always shown interest in Football, often calling it his favorite sport. He was close to buying the Washington Commanders from then-owner, Dan Snyder. However, it was sold in 2023 for a record $6.05 billion.

Now, Bezos has another franchise on the table, and it’s very close to him. He made Amazon the company it is today in the city of Seattle. So, it would make more sense for Bezos to choose the Seahawks.

Reportedly, the Seattle side is valued at around $6.6 billion. However, Wickersham believes otherwise. "They could set a record for an NFL team price: $7-$8 billion, per a rival team exec," Wickersham wrote on X. Yet, if Bezos is to be the new owner of the Seahawks, the 62-year-old might find himself in an interesting dilemma.

A Big Hurdle for Jeff Bezos

It is no secret that Amazon has an exclusive broadcasting deal for Thursday Night Football.

Amid rumors of Jeff Bezos buying the Seahawks, the question arises whether he could play a hand in dictating the schedule.

Considering Bezos is still holding the company's 9% stock, the league might want to avoid getting into that situation. Well, for now, the Seattle side's focus is fully on winning the Super Bowl.

The last time the Seahawks won the Lombardi trophy was in 2013. However, it won't be easy to win against Drake Maye and the Patriots. Whether Bezos will become Seattle's owner or not, one thing is for sure: he will keep an eye on the Super Bowl.
