Tommy Rees Likely to Put Kevin Stefanski Out of a Job as Browns Consider Coaching Options

Going 3-14 with the Browns last season, fans had the hope that things would get better with head coach Kevin Stefanski.
We are into week 15, and Cleveland is standing in the same position they were last season. With time ticking out for Stefanski, the offensive coordinator Tommy Rees might be next in line to take his job.
Rees has already expressed his desire to continue working with the Browns, despite getting an offer from the Michigan Wolverines. In the preseason, Cleveland coach Jimmy Haslam set his expectations straight with Stefanski to get a better result after last season’s disaster.

With that clearly not going the way he wanted, it’s a matter of when, more than if, Rees takes the head coach position or not. In fact, according to Mary Kay Cabot’s report for Cleveland.com, the Browns are making every effort to keep Rees and think highly of him as a valuable asset for their offense.
A lot will depend on how Stefanski ends the current season with the Browns.
Tommy Rees Talks About Shedeur Sanders
The Browns’ OC Rees has been working closely with rookie QB Shedeur Sanders’ offensive footwork, and it’s safe to say that he’s severely impressed.
While talking about his offensive strategies in the press conference, the former Notre Dame quarterback stated how the overall footwork and understanding between him and Sanders have gradually improved. “He has put a lot of work into the last few weeks to get ready to play these games, and you’ve seen the steps as he progresses,” Rees said.
Head Coach Stefanski gave the debut to Sanders when QB Dillon Gabriel got injured against the Ravens in Week 11. Since then, he has scored 5 passing touchdowns for 769 yards and a rushing score for 50 yards.
Will he leave enough impression to become the franchise quarterback? Only time will tell.
