Tom Brady Snubs Fellow Patriot to Name This QB as MVP Favorite

We are deep into the postseason, and the two biggest names that are getting the most MVP shouts are Drake Maye and Matthew Stafford. Now, a legendary Patriots QB has cast his vote.

When a former Patriots player, Rob Gronkowski, asked Tom Brady his pick, his answer was definitely surprising.

The 15-time Pro Bowler stated that while Maye had improved significantly, Stafford deserved to be the MVP. “I mean, I don’t get a vote, but what Matthew Stafford’s done this season has been absolutely remarkable,” Brady said.

"Drake Maye, on the other side, has done some remarkable things with Josh McDaniels and their first year. Drake’s got a long career ahead. I’m sure he’s gonna get many opportunities. You know, I would say Matthew Stafford," added Brady.

While both Maye and Stafford are aiming for their first MVP recognition, Brady has won 3 for New England (‘07,’10, and ‘17). He finished his career with 89214 passing yards and 649 touchdowns.

Both the Patriots and the Rams have qualified for the playoffs this season. Their postseason performance will likely determine who wins the award.

So what do the stats say about Tom Brady's pick?

It’s hard to deny that Drake Maye and Matthew Stafford have been two of the best quarterbacks this season.

The 23-year-old has already surpassed his rookie season, scoring 31 passing touchdowns for 4394 yards in 17 games so far. His best performance came in a 42-10 win against the Jets in Week 17. Maye scored 5 touchdowns for 256 passing yards, throwing 0 interceptions and getting sacked just once.

Unfortunately, the Patriots’ defensive line hasn’t succeeded in protecting him all the time. He has been sacked 47 times this season, one of the highest in the league.

On the other side, Rams’ veteran QB leads the league in touchdowns and passing yards with 46 TDs and 4707 yards in 17 games. He has a great chance to cross 5000 passing yards, assuming he goes deep into the tournament.
