Tom Brady Offers Major Advice to Patrick Mahomes Following Massive Heartbreak

Patrick Mahomes has lost this season most painfully. And Tom Brady has offered a word of advice for Mahomes to deal with this heartbreak.

On Sunday, the Los Angeles Chargers won 16-13 against the Kansas City Chiefs, and the 30-year-old quarterback hopped off the field with a season-ending injury.

Appearing on SiriusXM’s Let’s Go! podcast, Brady has advised Mahomes to accept the setback and commit to recovery. “The only thing you can do is focus on what's ahead of you and not look back,” Brady said. “And just say, OK, this is part of what my career is going to be,” he added.

The Chiefs will not appear in the playoffs, a first in a decade, and Mahomes, for the first time in his career. The quarterback, a three-time Super Bowl champion, earlier expressed his frustration. “Don’t know why this had to happen. And not going to lie, it’s hurts,” Mahomes wrote.

Brady, who has suffered worse injuries of a similar nature in 2008, assured Mahomes is not alone.

“A lot of people have gone through it, and a lot of people have overcome it. You've just got to put as much diligence into the rehab process,” he said.

The Patriots Hall of Famer emphasized that Mahomes must focus on rehab, but also build strength despite the pain.“I think you gotta get through rehab mode as fast as possible and then you get back to training mode,” he opined.

“And it's always the same amount of pain and discomfort, except you're making progress through that pain and discomfort. which is a hard psychological thing to battle,” he elaborated.

Brady had to take a year to bounce back and ensure he was fit to perform. He appeared for four additional Super Bowls post his injury. “But it's a tough rehab. It's one of the toughest rehabs,” Brady said. “I just remember every day pushing myself.”

If Mahomes wants to come back strong, he must commit to rehab. “It's the same commitment that the great professional athletes make to be great at their profession,” Brady pointed out.

The Chiefs are in a 6-8 season and rank third in the AFC West. Mahomes made 3,587 passing yards and 22 touchdowns across 14 games this season.  Will Mahomes rise again in 2026?
