Todd Monken Sends Stern Warning to Locker Room After Jerry Jeudy Exits Minicamp
The Browns have high expectations for their wide receiver, Jerry Jeudy, in light of the recently drafted KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston. With the minicamp now wrapped up, HC Todd Monken had a warning for the WR room.
The three-day mandatory minicamp of the Browns from June 9 to June 11 saw Jeudy on the sidelines during team drills. Jeudy’s absence on the final day prompted Monken to give out this statement.
“#Browns Monken said Jerry Jeudy felt something in his hamstring today and didn’t want to go into the break with, so he sat out today,” shared Browns’ insider Mary Kay Cabot on X. “But Monken said there won’t be veteran days of rest in camp.”
Coach Monken told reporters after the final day of the minicamp that Jeudy didn’t get as much work this week due to his hamstring injury. He added that while his injury is unlikely to have any long-term implications, the Browns didn’t want to risk their WR as they head into the break before training camp begins in July.
“I don’t talk about injuries, but you dragged me into this,” Monken said to reporters. “His hamstring grabbed him a little bit, and we did not want him to go into the offseason with a hamstring problem.”
Monken’s statement led to queries about the Browns’ willingness to give veteran players a few days off during camp or in practices before camp.
“We don’t give veteran days off. We might monitor their reps but they’re going to be dressed,” answered Monken. “That’s what we do as a team. Everybody’s dressed.”
The Browns’ WR coach, Christian Jones, thinks Jeudy has a "great mindset" coming off a disappointing season after a breakout year with the Browns. His catch total had dropped from 90 in 2024 to 50 in 2025, and his yardage fell from 1,229 to 602.
The one-time Pro-Bowler further talked about how he is dealing with the new strategies.
Jeudy Reveals Adjusting to Monken’s New Offensive Strategies
The Browns WR Jerry Jeudy revealed to reporters that the new HC’s coaching style is different from last year’s. He added that he’s used to offensive scheme changes per year at this stage of his career.
“The offense, the concepts and everything…. Everything is different about this offense, the placalling, the concepts,” said Jeudy. “He (Monken) does a great job of getting to the best plays. Being able to give the QB the ability to change the play to get in the best formation, the best concept against certain defenses and certain looks is just going to help us.”
Anthony Moeglin of the Browns Wire stated that this new offense under Monken is coming at the perfect time for Jeudy, who is looking to rebound from last year.
