Todd Monken Reveals Plans to Poach Shedeur Sanders During Time at Ravens

Just a few days into his career at the Cleveland Browns, Todd Monken is already revealing big things. And one thing is his willingness to work with Shedeur Sanders.

When Sanders entered the room to greet Andrew Berry and Monken, the coach revealed that he tried to bring the quarterback to the Baltimore Ravens last year.

“Hey, we tried to draft your a** last year for God’s sake. It all worked out. You remember that right?”

During the 2025 Draft, Sanders was a highly discussed prospect and the Ravens were looking to bring him in. However, Sanders didn't want to get stuck behind Super Bowl MVP Lamar Jackson and instead went to the Browns.

Despite that, he got stuck behind Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel and got his first start halfway through the season. Months later, things have come full circle. And it could be a massive change for the young QB.

Back in 2023, when Monken first joined the Ravens as their offensive coordinator, they went 13–4 in the league. Moreover, he helped Lamar Jackson become the league MVP that year. So does that mean Sanders is happy to have Monken on board?

Shedeur Sanders Had a Special Message for Todd Monken

He shared a picture of the coach with “welcome” written in the back. In the caption, he added just three words along with a fire emoji and a watch emoji, referencing ‘Perfect Timing’. He wrote, “Time for work.”

However, FOX Sports’ Emmanuel Acho criticized Monken’s judgment and suggested that Sanders shouldn’t even listen to the Browns’ new head coach.

Right now, the Cleveland Browns are entering the off-season with three quarterbacks – Shedeur Sanders, Deshaun Watson, and Dillon Gabriel. Perhaps this interaction could mean we see Shedeur get the starting role in the coming season. It could be the first step he takes in becoming a franchise QB.
