The Cleveland Browns’ call to draft another quarterback has divided some spectators. And Skip Bayless has chosen a side, voicing out an important question over the move.

On the 28 April episode of The Arena: Gridiron, Bayless, a veteran sports columnist, has called Taylen Green’s presence and head coach Todd Monken’s views disrespectful to Sanders.

“Why would you do that to Shedeur?” he asked. “Why would you bring in a kid? It just scares me that Monken is saying, ‘I can work with that.’ It just irked me for Shedeur's sake, it's just a small sign of disrespect.”

Neither general manager Andrew Berry nor HC Monken has announced a plan for Green. So far, the two have praised Green’s stellar athleticism. 

“Having an athletic quarterback can be critical to having success,” Monken said on 25 April. 

Meanwhile, Berry said that Green’s “gonna need some polish with his game.”

Sanders, on the flip side, showed progress. After debuting in Week 11 against the Baltimore Ravens, with limited time on the field, Sanders improved his completion percentage from 25% to 73.9% in his second-to-last game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

His three-touchdown performance against the Tennessee Titans made him the Rookie of the Week in week 14.

Bayless had previously supported Sanders in a passionate X post on 26 April.

“WHY? WHY? WHY?... BUT THE BROWNS DON’T NEED ANOTHER QB. THEY HAVE 3, WITH SHEDEUR THE STARTER. SHOW SOME FAITH IN HIM,” the post had read.

With Green’s addition, the Browns have a packed QB room, but Sanders' efforts aren't unnoticed. 

Andrew Berry Gives His Take on Shedeur Sanders Post-Draft

In conversation with Tony Rizzo and Chris Oldach, GM Andrew Berry praised Sanders' offseason efforts and progress.

“He did a really nice job at the voluntary minicamp. I think his improvements in decision-making and pocket management by the end of the year, and certainly what we’ve seen so far during a very short spring, have been positive,” Berry said on ESPN Cleveland on Tuesday.

In the voluntary minicamp held just ahead of the draft, Sanders, 24, took the most first-team snaps.

He also practiced with his private QB coach, Darrell Colbert Jr. Berry also laid out his expectations for Sanders to spearhead the offense in his sophomore year with the Browns.

“I expect him to have more command of the offense and better ball security and situational awareness.”

While the post-draft scene seems to have strained the Browns' QB depth chart, Berry reassured that Sanders is not left ignored. What are your thoughts?
