Cleveland’s 1-1 start to the season has not stopped questions surrounding the Browns' quarterback direction.

Deshaun Watson won the starting job over Shedeur Sanders after a close offseason competition. He then helped the Browns beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-19 in Week 2, throwing two touchdown passes.

However, rapper and media personality Mase remains critical of Cleveland’s approach. Speaking on It Is What It Is, he called the Browns a mess and questioned the purpose behind Watson’s continued role in the franchise:

“Cleveland Browns team and organization, I think they're a mess. I think the entire organization is upside down in that they're doing another mental game with the public, and the public is on to what they are doing.”

Mase also suggested the Browns could be giving Watson opportunities to build trade value later in the season. He believes Cleveland is “wasting people's time” while trying to determine what they can do with Watson.

That trade-value theory remains his interpretation, rather than a confirmed team plan.

Shedeur Sanders’ role remains a major point of contention in Cleveland

Mase then turned his attention to Shedeur Sanders and argued that Cleveland already knows enough about Deshaun Watson and his game.

He questioned why the Browns would continue down the same path rather than giving their rookie quarterback an opportunity:

“We know that whatever Deshaun is doing, Shedeur can do at this point, and it'll be great if they can just move on.”

The comments add to the scrutiny surrounding Sanders, who entered the season behind Watson on Cleveland’s depth chart.
