Ahead of the Rams' NFC Championship showdown, analyst Colin Cowherd made a bold case for Matthew Stafford. He claimed another Super Bowl win would place Stafford ahead of a legendary peer.

Showering the 37-year-old quarterback with praise for his Week 16 performance against the Seahawks, The Herd show host promised to rank Stafford above Aaron Rodgers of the Steelers on the all-time best quarterbacks list, even if it sounds outlandish. 

“I’ve said it, if he wins another Super Bowl, I will put him one spot ahead of Aaron Rodgers all times. And that sounds cooky, I think Aaron Rodgers, 11th or 12th best quarterback ever, I would insert Stafford one spot ahead,” Cowherd declared. 

Cowherd said Stafford pulled plays no one else managed in the history of the league. He threw three touchdowns for 457 yards without being intercepted even once. 

That too against the Seahawks, who ended the year with the best defense rankings. They allowed their opponents only 292 points against their 483.

He further bought up stats of both the players from the past years and said Stafford, also the 2025 MVP prospect, is “easily the better quarterback.

Matthew Stafford vs. Aaron Rodgers

While Matthew Stafford played 17 games during the 2025 regular season, and Aaron Rodgers played 16, thier numbers are not similar.

In his 17 games, Stafford threw 46 passing touchdowns for 4,707 yards. Meanwhile, Rodgers threw a little more than half that number at 24 passing touchdowns for 3,322 yards.

And it's not just Aaron Rodgers; even the reigning MVP Josh Allen has had a tough time keeping up with Stafford this season. And with the Bills out of the Super Bowl race, the 37-year-old has the opportunity to rack up his postseason stats as well.

If the Rams do end up winning the Super Bowl, then the MVP award is all but his. Yet how will it end this time with the faceoff against the Seahawks?
