"Terrible Trade" Browns Fans Left Fuming After Myles Garrett Trade Confirmed
Cleveland Browns Fans have flooded social media after reports confirmed that star pass rusher Myles Garrett was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in one of the biggest moves of the offseason for a 25-year-old linebacker.
What began as just doubt quickly turned into outrage, with many supporters questioning how the franchise could move on. Cleveland traded Garrett for Jared Verse, and a 2027 first-round pick, while many fans are unconvinced that Verse is a good enough replacement.
The two-time Defensive Player of the Year recently achieved the NFL single-season record with 23 sacks and is one of the most dominant defenders in football.
Fans believed that he should have spent his entire career in Cleveland, which made the trade feel like the end of an era.
Garrett's relationship with the Browns has been a point of concern for months. He stayed away from offseason activities and had limited interaction with new head coach Todd Monken.
The deal only became possible because Garrett agreed to waive the rare no-trade clause in his contract, giving the blockbuster move a path to completion.
Interestingly, the groundwork had been laid months earlier, when a March contract adjustment sparked speculation that a post-June 1 trade could be in play due to the NFL's salary cap rules.
Still, replacing a player who recorded 125.5 career sacks and multiple All-Pro selections is an overwhelming challenge that will define the franchise's direction for years to come.
As Browns fans search for answers, attention now shifts to whether the front office can justify this move. Meanwhile, Browns fans are certainly not happy that the nine-year journey has come to an end already.
Browns Fans React to Shocking Myles Garrett Trade
The shockwaves hit Cleveland almost instantly. Fans still can't believe the confirmation of Garrett's trade.
"This doesn’t feel like enough for the best defensive player in the world," one fan wrote under the NFL post.
The franchise received backlash from fans for trading Garrett, with many feeling that the draft capital did not justify Garrett's importance.
"I'm over this team, man. What team should I support instead of my Browns?" commented a fan.
Fans were frustrated seeing the franchise parting ways with a cornerstone player like Myles Garrett.
"Terrible trade. How you only get 1 first round pick. That's awful," commented another fan.
The fan believed that Myles Garrett's caliber should have a larger return package, particularly multiple first-round selections. Supporters feel Cleveland settled for less draft than expected in a deal.
"Myles Garrett leaving the browns to go to a Super Bowl contender," commented another fan.
The comment highlighted that Garrett now has a clear path to a championship. For some, this, after giving a $230 million contract to Deshaun Watson, was incomprehensible.
"The browns giving 200+ million to watson and then giving away Garrett. Who is in charge? My God man," a fifth fan commented.
Now, the success or failure of this deal will be closely analyzed throughout the upcoming season.
