For Swifties who also love soccer, this weekend has been a delightful dilemma. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce got married just as the Argentina-Cape Verde match unfolded at the same. While people made their choice, Skip Bayless, is furious at the star pop singer for this conundrum. 

“How dare Taylor Swift make her guests miss this Messi-Cape Verde knockout match. They aren't even allowed to keep tabs on their phones! She should've postponed,” the veteran sports commentator posted on X. 

Swift’s wedding with the Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end took place in New York City at the iconic Madison Square Garden. The converted wedding was kept under wraps by the couple who wanted privacy for their special day. One way to achieve this was restrictions on using phone during their ceremony. 

This meant their guests could not get a hold on any news regarding the Argentina-Cape Verde game in Miami Gardens, Florida. Those who wanted to watch the game but couldn’t, they missed a thriling round 32 clash.

The island country’s dream run at the FIFA World Cup came to an end when they fell 3-2 in an extra time game against Lionel Messi & Co. He sent an extra 30 in the game and Cape Verde’s star goalkeeper Vozinha made eight saves. 

With this face off between the formidable Argentina and debutant Cape Verde, who had a metoric run, Messi’s campaign for a third world cup final remains strong. While Bayless may hold Swift accountable for forcing her guests to chose one, both events are done and dusted.

According to reports, a crowd of over 64,478 was in attendance at the Miami stadium for the game. Meanwhile, Swift and Kelce were accompanied by close friends and family for their special day.

New York in a celebratory mood for the Taylor-Travis Wedding

The star singer and footballer held a lavish but private wedding ceremony. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce got married in New York City. After the couple was announced husband and wife,  jumbotrons outside displayed “JUST&T MARRIED!”

Moreover, the Empire State building lit up in the color blue after they tied the knot on July 3. According to the building’s official website, the “light blue sparkle color”  this was in spirit of the “Celebration of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's Wedding at Madison Square Garden.”

“Her something blue (blue heart),” the post said alongside a video of the building being illuminated by light blue lights.
