Taylen Green Sends Clear Message For Browns Following Andrew Berry's Comments

The stakes are high for Taylen Green, who is walking into the franchise that had one of the most confusing QB shuffles in recent history.
More so, because the Cleveland Browns’ general manager, Andrew Berry, has shown a lot of faith in the newly picked quarterback. So when Green was asked what message he had for Browns’ fans, he said he would do his best.
“Like you said, Dawg Pound, I’m a Dawg. I’m a competitor. I’m gonna do whatever it takes to win, whatever it takes to get that first down, to score,” Green told reporters post-draft on 25 April as published via Cleveland.com.
“If that’s laying my shoulder down to get a first down or hurdling somebody, I’m gonna make sure I put my team in the best place to win. And I have the opportunity to do it, so I’m gonna give all I have,” concluded Green.
The former Arkansas Razorbacks QB was this year’s 182nd in the Round 6 and turned out to be one of the most noteworthy picks from the draft pool.
The 23-year-old is one of the most athletic players to have entered the NFL in recent years. During the NFL Combine, he completed the 40-yard dash in just 4.36 seconds.
He also put forth a 43.5-inch vertical and an 11-foot-2 broad jump performance, which impressed both Berry and head coach Todd Monken.
Green’s college career spans across five years and two programs. After a limited appearance in the 2021 season, he had a breakthrough the following year with 14 passing yards and 10 rushing yards.
Green has amassed 59 passing TDs for 9,662 yards and 35 rushing TDs for 2,403 yards. While he is a valuable addition to the team, the Browns’ QB room has grown crowded. But that is how Berry wants it to be.
What Are Andrew Berry’s Plans For The QB Room?
On 25 April, Berry addressed a media session and gave his stance on the QB roster.
“The current plan is that we would roll with those four,” he said. “I can’t predict if something else comes up. So yes, that would be the intention.”
Post-draft, the Browns have four QBs: Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel, veteran Deshaun Watson, and Green. And the latest addition is expected to absorb any shock the Browns might have to face in the upcoming season.
Especially after the franchise has had over 15 QBs the last 10 years, the Browns had four QBs last season. So, while Berry and the Browns may not have a concrete plan for Green, he certainly has a lot to prove.
