“So cringe”: NFL fans react to Fernando Mendoza’s first meeting with Tom Brady

With Tom Brady in the building, the Las Vegas Raiders don’t have to worry about mentoring their young quarterback, Fernando Mendoza. The Raiders shared a video of Mendoza interacting with Brady early on, and Brady chiding him for a hilarious reason.

“Video of Fernando Mendoza’s FaceTime with Tom Brady during his combine visit with the #Raiders:

Mendoza: “Oh shoot! What’s up, Mr. Brady?! How are you doing?!”

Brady: “You can call me Tom. Mr. Brady is my dad,” NFL Insider Ari Meriov captioned his June 19 X post.

Mendoza, 22, was speaking to the legendary quarterback on a video call. Brady was unavailable at the combine Mendoza attended when he met the Raiders. Brady retired from the NFL in 2023 and owns a five percent stake in the franchise.

He had some words of encouragement for the rookie, who was coming from a successful 16-0 season with the Indiana Hoosiers in 2025.

It was widely believed that the Raiders (3-14) would pick Mendoza as their quarterback. He was drafted first overall this year and was under the eyes of Brady for a long time. In December, he had revealed his views on Mendoza.

“I love everything about his game,” Brady said on December 14, in an episode of FOX NFL Sunday. “Certainly, his leadership is what stands out to me. It’s his relatability to his teammates. What he’s done this season was so impressive. I’m happy for him.”

Mendoza has since met with Brady and was a focal point during the Raiders’ OTAs. The video of their interaction has gone viral, prompting reactions from fans.

Fans React To Tom Brady Correcting Fernando Mendoza Over His Name

The video of Fernando Mendoza, the Las Vegas Raiders’ rookie quarterback, calling Tom Brady “Mr. Brady” has gone viral. This light-hearted conversation between the two happened when Mendoza transitioned from college football to the NFL.

“Hahaha. So cringe,” one replied.

Another empathised with Mendoza being corrected while talking to the legend.

“Mr. Brady is my dad” energy is undefeated (crying emoji) did Mendoza recover or did he just freeze up after that,” they asked.

““What’s up Mr. Brady?” So wholesome,” wrote another, appreaciting Mendoza.

“These 2 are going to work so well together. Really hope Brady works closely with Mendoza and elevates his game further,” one replied, asking for better results this season.

“Such a "Mr. Stark/Peter Parker moment"....Pretty cool,” one fan wrote, drawing parallels between these and the iconic Marvel duo.
