“Should Be an American”: NFL Players Divided Over Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Half Time Show Amidst Criticism

The Super Bowl LX is now just days and so is one of the biggest attractions of the year: Bad Bunny at the halftime show.

Bad Bunny performing the halftime show already had the internet divided and also got some backlash from President Donald Trump. Even the players stand divided over the "WHERE SHE GOES" fame rapper.

“I don’t even know who Bad Bunny is,” said an NFC offensive player as reported by The Athletic. “I always think it should be an American. I think they’re trying too hard with this international stuff.”

Though the 31-year-old artist is also American. He was born in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, which is an unincorporated territory of the United States under the designation of commonwealth. Only by his ethnicity, the Grammy winner is Puerto Rican.

The Athletic also surveyed 58 players on their opinions on Bad Bunny performing the Super Bowl 2026 halftime show. 58.6% of players voted in favor of the Puerto Rican performing, while 41.4% did not.

As per The Athletic, there were two reasons for this. One being the players are not very familiar with Bad Bunny's music, and the other is that many wanted another artist to perform. Though some of the players had some brutal opinions as well.

NFL Players Had Some Brutal Words For Bad Bunny

Not everybody is a fan of Bad Bunny.

“I do not like it. (I’d prefer) anyone who’s synonymous with football and football culture. I feel like there’s tons of artists out there who are fans of the game," another NFC offensive player said.

And an AFC offensive player said, “I think there are better examples of character and morality than Bad Bunny.”

In a separate poll, NFL players were asked to name their ideal Super Bowl halftime performer. The most popular picks were Michael Jackson, Drake, Beyoncé, Chris Brown, and Travis Scott.

Artists such as Creed, Justin Bieber, Chris Stapleton, and Morgan Wallen also received a handful of votes. What do you think about Bad Bunny performing at the halftime show?
