Shedeur Sanders' future in Cleveland is in doubt. NFL analyst Jason Lloyd delivered a harsh critique of the Browns quarterback, questioning his preparation and on-field awareness after a difficult 2025 season. Lloyd's comments paint a troubling picture for the young QB.

"Am I supposed to play dumb and come in here and say, ‘Play the kid, let’s give it a shot’? When you hear over and over that he doesn’t watch a ton of film, that he had to be shown how to watch film, doesn’t know when he’s hot, doesn't know what he’s looking at in coverage. Am I supposed to ignore all that? Then, when you look at the data, it is what it is, and he didn’t play well."

Shedeur Sanders did not have a great season in 2025. He had a passer rating of 68.1 with 1,400 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in 8 games in 2025. The worst part is his QBR of 18.9, the worst single-season QBR in Cleveland Browns history for a QB with at least 6 starts.

And Jason Lloyd has claimed the 2026 Pro-Bowler performed this way because he does not watch films and had to be taught how. But that's not the extent of the problem.

"People want me to ignore that because it’s Shedeur. They want to ignore it because he was a fifth-round pick, and if they hit on a fifth-rounder, it erases Deshaun," he continued.

Shedeur Sanders was a big name in college football. His college, Colorado, even retired his jersey after he moved to the NFL. He is also often in the limelight because he is the son of Deion Sanders, an NFL Hall of Famer. However, his future at the team doesn't look bright for now.

Shedeur Sanders Might Also Not Be the QB1 of the Browns in 2026

Reportedly, the Browns might not choose Shedeur Sanders as their QB1 in the 2026 NFL season. NFL Insider, Adam Schefter, appeared on the Pat McAfee Show, where he said:

"There are people out there, and we'll see how it unfolds, but there are people out there who believe that DeShaun Watson could very well be the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns."

Watson has a passer rating of 80.7 with 3,365 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in 19 games for the Browns. His Browns career has been riddled with injuries.

Todd Monken has made it clear. If Shedeur wants the starting job, he will have to earn it.
