Shedeur Sanders told what he needs to do better in Browns training camp by Cleveland radio host

With Cleveland Browns training camp just around the corner, the battle for the starting quarterback job is about to reach its defining moment. As Shedeur Sanders fights for QB1, one NFL analyst has revealed the biggest improvement he must make.

“He needs to read defenses faster. I understand it. He understands it. He gets it. The processing thing has got to be quicker if he is to succeed,” said ESPN’s NFL radio host Tony Rizzo.

One of the biggest flaws in Shedeur Sanders' game is that he reads defenses too slowly, often leading to a sack or an interception. This issue contributed to him getting sacked 23 times and throwing 10 interceptions in just seven starts.

“That is the number one thing I want to see from Shedeur this training camp. I want to see him process. I want to see him get the ball out faster. I want to see it going. I want everything to move a little quicker for him,” said ESPN’s NFL radio host Tony Rizzo.

When Nick Kehoe of Football Film Room analyzed Sanders' film, he pointed to one play against the 49ers, noting that on a 3rd-and-9 deep in Browns territory, Sanders appeared to have an out route available but could have taken the shallow crosser instead.

“The issue here was that Sanders was too slow to set up (he drifted at the top of his drop and never actually set his feet). That made it so he wasn’t ready to throw the out-route when it would have been the right time to release the ball,” wrote Kehoe.

While general manager Andrew Berry praised his offseason progress, saying he has drastically improved his "footwork" and has been "learning the offense," according to ESPN, everything will ultimately come down to whether he performs well in training camp.

Meanwhile, Tony Rizzo has some advice for Deshaun Watson as well.

For Tony Rizzo, Shedeur Sanders can solve most of his problems by reading defenses and playing faster. But when it comes to Deshaun Watson, the ESPN Cleveland radio host believes the veteran simply needs to stay healthy and keep his head together.

“For Watson, all I really need to see is him stay healthy. I think he is physically back. He is as healthy as he's ever been with the Browns, which is big. Number two, mentally, he's got probably as clear a head as he's had since he got to Cleveland, that's for sure,” said Rizzo.

The rookies will report to Berea on July 23, while the veterans are set to arrive on July 28. Reports suggest that the coaching staff and management will make the final roster decisions.

That said, who do you think will be the Browns' starting quarterback: Shedeur Sanders or Deshaun Watson? Let us know in the comments!
