While the Cleveland Browns remain on an extended break before training camp, Deshaun Watson has continued working at the team's facility in Berea.

When asked about Watson's decision to continue practicing during the break, Shedeur Sanders offered a different perspective during the Browns press conference.

"I think the way y'all look at things is different than how we look at things," Sanders added. "We look at coming to practice every day, being the best player we can be as an individual and as a good teammate. Y'all look at it as like a competition."

Apart from what Sanders said during the media press conference (via @browns YouTube), there's also another person who promotes everyday practice.

Sanders' statement echoed a lesson he previously said he learned from head coach Todd Monken earlier this offseason.

“I think coach just spoke life into me,” Sanders said in April. “So I was here one day, and he was like, ‘Well, if you want to be the best quarterback you want to be, then you got to do that on a daily thing, on a daily regimen, daily time.’ So that’s what clicked for me.” 

Watson's offseason work reflects the same emphasis on daily preparation that Sanders described when discussing Monken's coaching approach.

In his 19 regular-season games across three seasons with the Browns, Watson has thrown for 3,365 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.

Watson's decision to continue working during the break has kept him at the center of Cleveland's quarterback conversation ahead of training camp.

His hard work during this break proves he is ready to win back his spot. But the fight will not be easy. 

Browns quarterback battle heats up

According to the same interview with the media, Sanders chose to join Watson's camp instead of hosting his own, ensuring that players don't have to choose between them.

“We’re a team,” Sanders said. “If one of us chooses to do something, we’re all going to do it together as a team. It’s not an individual thing... like the quarterback room, we’re all connected. We’re all cool... We all communicate with each other.” 

The Cleveland Browns still do not have a starting quarterback. Watson and Sanders are locked in a tight race for the top spot. During offseason practices, HC Todd Monken split first-team reps equally between them, as per J.R. DeGroote of Heavy.com.

HC Monken believes both players have what it takes, but a final decision won't be made until training camp.

Quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel and rookie Taylen Green are also in the mix, giving the Browns four quarterbacks.

With training camp approaching, Sanders and Watson remain central to Cleveland's quarterback competition, while the rest of the room continues to compete for roster spots.
