Shedeur Sanders Responds to President Trump's Vocal Praise Ahead of 49ers Clash

Imagine playing so well that you impress the President of the United States, that's what Sanders did. In the 24-10 win over the Raiders, in the 12th Week of the 2025 NFL season, his first game as a starting quarterback in the league, he recorded a passer rating of 87.3 with 209 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception.

Watching the game, Trump posted on social media, “Shedeur Sanders was GREAT. Wins first game, career start, as a pro (for Cleveland). Great Genes. I TOLD YOU SO!” President Trump couldn’t help but praise his performance, whilst also referring to his dad, 2011 HOF Deion Sanders.

Sanders really did shine in that game breaking a 30 year old Browns' curse since it was the first time any rookie quarterback had won their first start in three decades for the Browns. Of course, it had to impress Donald Trump, and now, Shedeur Sanders has replied to the POTUS.

In a recent interview, the Browns’ rookie quarterback was asked about the statements made by Donald Trump, and in reply to that, he said, “He’s definitely been a supporter for a minute. So I’m just thankful for him, even taking time out of his day to be able to speak out and support.” Also, when Sanders says that Trump has been a supporter, he is not exaggerating; be it this Raiders game or the 2025 NFL draft, he has received support from the POTUS.

For the 2025 NFL draft, Sanders was widely projected as the number 1 pick, but the picture was entirely different on the day of the draft. Sanders stayed on the draft board until the Browns selected him in the fifth round, and Trump did not like him staying there, so before the Browns picked him, he called out the NFL owners over social media and talked about how great a player Shedeur Sanders’ father was.

Bring that into the picture, he added, “Therefore, Shedeur, his quarterback son, has PHENOMENAL GENES, and is all set for Greatness. He should be ‘picked’ IMMEDIATELY by a team that wants to WIN. Good luck, Shedeur, and say hello to your wonderful father!” Now, while the Browns aren’t exactly winning this season with Sanders on the team but the win-loss record is tied at 1-1 in the games he has been on the field in, recording a passer rating of 52.5 with 256 yards, 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions.

Next in store for Shedeur Sanders

Sanders got the opportunity to be the starting quarterback only after Dillion Gabriel was sidelined because of a concussion. Now, as we head into week 13 of the 2025 season, he is reported to be perfectly fine, and one might think we would be the starting quarterback in the game against the 49ers, but head coach Kevin Stefanski has announced Sanders as the starting quarterback in that game.

"Shedeur will start this week," Stefanksi said at his Monday news conference. "The No. 1 job of a quarterback is to win. So excited to get that first win under his belt.” The 49ers game will not be as easy as the one with the Raiders, but it will not be very hard either.

They allow 248.83 yards per game, which could lead to a better game for the young QB. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
