Shedeur Sanders Reflects on Closing Out His Rookie Season With Browns Victory

The Browns have ended the season on a good note after the 20-18 win over the Bengals in week 18. What does that mean for Shedeur Sanders?

Sanders appeared in the post-match press conference and talked about how he felt now that his rookie season is over with a win.

"What I'm seeing, I know what I see well, I know what I don't see well. And I learned a lot mentally, and I learned a lot mostly physically, everything. I think mentally, it was how to deal with when things are going your way, when things aren't going your way, how to deal with feelings."

This season was not a fairytale season for Sanders. At first, he slipped to the fifth round in the 2025 NFL draft after being projected among the first round picks. The Browns did pick him as the 144th overall, but when the regular season began, he was on the bench.

He added that this year was all about dealing with feelings: "You could be not playing and feel some type of way, and you could be playing and feel the same way as if you didn't, as how you were when you weren't playing."

Shedeur Sanders did not get first-team reps and only debuted after Dillon Gabriel had a concussion against the Ravens. But once on the field, he never came off. He had his struggles but recorded a passer rating of 68.1 with 1,400 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in 8 games this season.

The Browns' rookie also faced pressure from the media over his relationship with Kevin Stefanski, and he dealt with all of them very professionally, making no controversial statements.

Shedeur Sanders had nothing but admiration for Kevin Stefanski

There have been many speculations over Stefanski's future with the Browns. A reporter asked Sanders about what the season-ending win means for the head coach, among all the rumors.

"I think just Coach Kev, he's been real tough, he's been tough, and it's good. I think I grew and I learned a lot from him. I think this week we had a conversation just about things. You know what I'm saying, just about things in general."

He went on to note that over time, they have created a sort of understanding, and often indulge in an exchange of ideas and what they both go through. Sanders also confirmed Stefanski's stance on the win, stating, "So I think, I know he wanted this win, and I know he wants every win, but I know this one means a lot."

Surely ending the season with a win would mean a lot for Stefanski, especially if this was his last game with the Browns as their head coach.

But was it? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
