The year hasn't been exactly a fairy tale for Shedeur Sadners despite his NFL debut, and he has no regrets.

The Browns' rookie was asked about it in Tuesday's press conference, and he answered that he is happy with how things turned out.

“When I look back today and I look back at everything, I’m super appreciative that everything happened how it happened. If I were to look back from the Ravens game to now… I would say I improved in experience. I improved being in situations and understanding that failing. Those are all building blocks to be able to have success."

Coming off college, Sanders was counted among the round 1 picks for the 2025 draft. But the NFL teams kept passing him on until the Browns picked him up in the 5th round at 144th overall.

All summer, he worked with the Hungry Dawgs in training camp, practiced with backups on distant fields, and waited patiently.

He never once took a snap with the first-team offense. It was not until the Ravens game that head coach Kevin Stefanski subbed him on the field after Dillon Gabriel had a concussion. But since then, he has been on the growing curve.

He started on the team in the next three games. Then earned the QB1 spot after the 23/42-364 yards-3 TDs against the Titans. Most recently, he showed his rushing game against the Bills.

He added, "Sometimes you have to fail in certain areas too, and I like the route that basically it took. I like how everything went because it’s a lot of great building blocks that I’m able to learn from when it comes to life, when it comes to just me being a part of the organization, everything.”

But the big question is, will he construct his building on these blocks only?

Shedeur Sanders is not looking at his future right now

There have been reports that speak of the Browns choosing to start Deshaun Watson ahead of Sanders if he does not prove to be good enough.

Some reports have also claimed that the Browns are going for a QB in the 2026 draft, with Fernando Mendoza and Dante Moore being the top names. But Sanders is not looking at these things.

“I live in the present,” he said. “I’m focused on this week and this game, and each week and every game because nothing’s promised. Nothing’s promised going into next year or anything. So I stay in the moment, stay focused on what I have to do now to even be able to be here next year. And I just enjoy life.”

Sanders has a passer rating of 67.5 with 1,103 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions in 6 games this season. Fans have complained about the interceptions, but there have been praises for him from coaches like Mike Tomlin as well.
