Shedeur Sanders Drops Honest Opinion on Major Difference Between NFL and College Football
Following a tough outing against the Chicago Bears, Shedeur Sanders received questions about getting used to NFL defenses.
"Great, I mean, I recognize that I see what they're doing each and every rep, you know, is helping. It's very helpful, it's knowing what you know exactly I'm looking at preaching at."
In 5 NFL games, he has 946 yards, 5 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions with a 52.2 completion rate. When we compare it to his college stats, it's a massive difference. In his entire 13-game freshman year, Sanders threw for 3,231 yards, 30 passing touchdowns, and 8 interceptions, with a 65.9% completion rate.
"A lot of that comes with trial and error, that comes with getting reps, that comes with practicing playing like that's what it comes with. You know my mind just so happened to be in the game, so it's cool, and you know I'm excited about it..."
But following his poor Ravens start, Shedeur has found some solid ground to stand on. A multiple TD game against the Titans, including going beyond 350 yards, and scores against the Raiders and 49ers, proved he's learning.
And Shedeur Sanders isn't going to let this hold him back
Amidst rumors of his spot on the team being under scrutiny, especially about Heisman winner Fernando Mendoza joining the team, Sanders handled media pressure well.
"In every situation, it's always going to be things that you want to work on, things that you want to get better. I think that's where I'm headed. I'm in the learning and understanding phase of this game and how things are."
He's clearly coming off one of his worst NFL starts so far, but if there's a lot to learn for Sanders, considering he went up against one of the stronger NFL defenses. Fortunately for Sanders, even his coach, Kevin Stefanski, is backing him.
"I think with young players, there's growing and there's learning that happens. ... I don't care what the position is, but look at history in terms of young players, and sometimes there's moments that aren't going to go your way, and you learn from those."
