The Browns’ long-term quarterback direction has become a major talking point. A recent report linked owner Jimmy Haslam to a potential pursuit of Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning.

According to the report, Haslam wants Manning to eventually play for Cleveland. That possibility has added another layer to the Browns’ quarterback situation, particularly with Shedeur Sanders also in the picture.

The reported plan prompted an intriguing response from former NFL quarterback Shaun King on The Bullpen with Adam the Bull. He believes that Sanders playing out of his skin could completely change the equation for the Browns and their future plans.

“Shedeur Sanders can play at such a level that Haslam's plans [of getting Arch Manning] go up in smoke,” King said.

King’s point centers on Sanders proving that Cleveland already has its answer at quarterback. If the 24-year-old develops into a convincing starter, the Browns could have little reason to chase another young quarterback.

That gives Sanders added significance as Cleveland evaluates its future. His performances could influence more than the depth chart if the Browns continue considering another long-term option.
