Shedeur Sanders Claims He Still Doesn’t Know if Myles Garrett Respects Him or Not
When you enter the Cleveland Browns locker room, Myles Garrett is one person you would want to be on good terms with.
Shedeur Sanders recently appeared on the UpAndAdamsShow, where host Kay Adams asked him about his relationship with the star defensive end. Sanders said:
"Yeah, I appreciate Miles a lot. I appreciate Myles a lot. You want to always gain his respect...I'm like, dang, I gotta do everything I can, you know, on the field and just be the same person every day, and with a weight room, everything like to earn his respect."
The Browns picked Garrett as number 1 overall in the 2017 draft, and he is not only one of the top guys but also one of the senior ones on the team.
He has Multiple First-Team All-Pro selections and Pro Bowl nods to his name, with a Defensive Player of the Year award. You do need his respect.
Shedeur Sanders further talked about how Myles Garrett leads the team and added, "he's somebody that you definitely want to gain his respect. And do I feel like I accomplished that? I don't know, but it's just going to continue to make me work harder."
Though there have been some good moments between the two. During the Browns' 30-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers, Sanders asked Garrett if his spin move would work against him. "I ain’t gonna lie. I want to feel one of your swipes,” he said.
The Browns legend responded, "You a good kid. I don’t want to hurt you. We gonna need you.” And while Sanders does not know if he has Garrett's respect, he did impress him once.
Back When Shedeur Sanders Impressed Myles Garrett
Shedeur Sanders played his first game as the QB1 in the NFL against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12. The Browns won that game with a score of 24-10, and Sanders recorded 11/20 completed passes for 209 yards and 1 touchdown.
While this was a good performance, one play impressed Myles Garrett. In the first quarter, the rookie escaped pressure and threw a 52-yard pass to Isaiah Bond, moving the Browns into the red zone. Cameras caught Garrett visibly stunned on the sideline.
“I was just like ‘wow,'” he later said of the play. “There’s not many guys in the league that can make that throw. That was a hell of a throw. I hope he can continue to grow and develop from making plays like that and take it from there.”
What do you think? Has Shedeur Sanders gained a little of Myles Garrett's respect?
