Shedeur Sanders Caught Offguard as Rookie QB's Reaction to Stefanski's Firing Goes Viral
When the news came out that the Browns had fired Kevin Stefanski, many would have wanted to know how Shedeur Sanders reacted to that.
In the press conference that soon followed, reporters asked the QB about it. Surprisingly, he wasn't informed of this by officials.
"We just found out," he took a pause, "a couple of seconds ago. But I think it's just overall the mentality, like things gonna happen, that's just how the league is. And moving forward, just focus on what we can improve individually, supporting that head coach."
The Sanders-Stefanski relationship was a big chapter of the 2025 Browns novel. Many criticized the HC for choosing Dillion Gabriel over the former Colorado QB. Things got even worse when it was made public that Sanders did not get first-team reps.
One NFL insider also reported that Shedeur Sanders had to be stopped from going after Stefanski after the controversial call against the Titans. "There's clearly no connection between Kevin Stefanski and Shedeur Sanders," former safety Ryan Clark said.
But in public, the two had always defended each other. Most recently, he had addressed how much the win over the Bengals meant for Stefanski.
"Coach Kev, he’s been real tough. He’s been tough. And it’s good. I think I grew and learned a lot from him. This week we had a conversation, just about things in general," he said. "I feel like we grew to understand each other. We share different things that we both will go through. I know he wanted this win, and I know he wants every win, but I know this one means a lot. I wish we as a team, and I wish everybody, could have more (wins), personally, within this last year."
What does Shedeur Sanders think of his future?
The reporters also asked the Browns quarterback about his future with the team and whether he has done enough to be here next season.
"I think I did what I was able to do. I definitely grew from a lot of things. I got experience now. I'm always the same confidence-wise, I'm there. But that's not in my hands. That's not my decision. I can't speak on what other people feel," he said.
Sanders had a passer rating of 68.1 with 1,400 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in 8 games this season. Browns GM called him a work in progress and also said that they will be looking into the quarterback market.
The future remains blurry for Sanders. Will they replace him? What do you think?
