Despite losing the week 14 matchup by 2 points, the Cleveland Browns and their rookie QB, Shedeur Sanders, have much to celebrate.

Afterall, Sanders has been named NFL Rookie of the Week for his four-touchdown act against the Tennessee Titans. Sanders also completed 23 passes from out of his 42 attempts. Which included a 58-yard screen pass to Judkins and a 60-yard touchdown toss to Jerry Jeudy. 

This came right after Shedeur Sanders faced a turbulent start with the Cleveland Browns. After being overshadowed and put second to Dillion Garbriel, Sanders was under pressure to prove he deserves to be the starting quarterback.

And he did!

In Week 12, Shedeur Sanders made a 52-yard deep pass to Isiah Bond, which jolted everyone. Against the Titans, the 23-year-old threw for 364 yards, threw one interception to go for 29 yards, and even scored one point as a runner.

Following this, on Monday, Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski announced that Sanders will be the team’s opening quarterback for the rest of the season. While this recognition makes the loss less bitter, Sanders has more to prove.

What’s Next For Shedeur Sanders?

“My focus right now is the team we're playing ahead: the Bears,” he said on Wednesday.

The Browns are set to face the Chicago Bears this Sunday. While the Bears lost their last game to the Packers, they are still ranked number two in the AFC North.

Keeping his team’s status in mind, Sanders said, “I got to focus on playing my best and being the best player I can for the team.”

But it's not going to be easy for him. As Shedeur Sanders will be up against Caleb Williams, who, in the last five games, has consistently thrown above 200 yards with a success rate over 60 percent. The Bears' QB has been dominant this season and would obviously want to end the chatter around the rookie QB.
