Linebacker Mike Green has offered his perspective on the Baltimore Ravens' inadequacies last season. He held former head coach John Harbaugh responsible for yet another titleless season.

“I just feel like I just feel like the philosophy that was being coached to us last year probably wasn't the the the best for us. And um I I think that you kind of have to shape around your pass rushers and like what they're good at,” he said on The Lounge, on June 5. 

The 22-year-old outside linebacker only had one season with Harbaugh last year. The Ravens signed him for four-years with a $7,419,415 rookie contract. In his rookie year, he appeared in 17 games and racked up 41 total tackles.

Green recorded 17 solo tackles and 3.5 sacks. The Ravens went 8-9 in Harbaugh’s last season, bring an 18-year stint to an end. 

“The 2025 Ravens badly underachieved, and there was always going to be some type of change. There was frustration at every level of the organization. It wasn’t just the fans,” The Athletic wrote on Januray 6 on his exit.

The Ravens hold a 180-113 regular season and 13-11 the postseason record. Harbaugh’s time with the Ravens was one of the longest stint a coach held in the NFL. His 2013 team was the one to have a successful title campaign. 

“When we get in certain situations where we can't really attack the quarterback or can't really into certain calls, you know, that takes a lot away from your pass rushing ability,” Green further added. 

Last year, the Ravens’ overall defense ranked 24th with 354.5 average defense yards. According to ESPN, LB Roquan Smith gained 130 tackles and ranked 15th in comparison to Jordyn Brooks who led the league with 183 tackles. 

The Ravens’ close 26-24 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers pushed the franchise to fire Harbaugh, who, according to The Athletic, did not even get to inform his staff of his departure. He is now taken charge of the New York Giants and could contest for an award this season.

The New York Giants have entered their first ever season with John Harbaugh as their head coach. He has decades worth of experience and one Coach of the Year award. A recent prediction has ruled him as a stong candidate to win this a second time. 

“The squad looks stronger on paper, assuming the injury luck improves,” DAZN’s Jason Abbey wrote on June 7. “Jaxson Dart, Cam Skattebo and Malik Nabers all missed significant time last season, and with Francis Mauigoa, Arvell Reese and Tremaine Edmunds among the new arrivals, there's a solid case that the Giants are being underestimated. If it all comes together as it should, Harbaugh takes the credit.”
