Sean McVay Snaps at Journalist on Live TV After Questions Raised Over Matthew Stafford’s Future

The Los Angeles Rams’ head coach, Sean McVay, was not in the mood to answer questions after the NFC Championship loss to the Seattle Seahawks, especially if the question was about Matthew Stafford.

When a journalist asked him about whether veteran QB would return to the NFL next season, McVay lost his cool.

"Yeah, I mean that’s… if he still wants to play. What the h*** kinda question is that? You have to ask him. We've been totally present. I know that if he wants to, he's still playing at a pretty d*** good clip," the coach snapped.

However, Sean McVay did clarify that he firmly believes Stafford was this season’s MVP. “He’s the MVP of the league and he’s not, you know… I mean I got respect for everybody, but this guy played at the level, it’s just different,” he added.

Stafford played five seasons with the Los Angeles side and produced incredible numbers. In a combined 74 games, the 37-year-old threw for 19,407 passing yards and scored 141 touchdowns.

It’s still unclear whether the veteran QB returns for another season. His postgame interview after a tough loss didn't shed much light on the event either.

Matthew Stafford Was Vague With His Reply

Even after a heartbreak, Matthew Stafford gave a postgame interview and thanked his team.

"I can't generalize... you know, six months of my life ten minutes after a loss. So, appreciate the guys in the locker room, everybody who helped me, and that's all I can answer for you," he said.

The speculation about Stafford retiring has floated around for a while. However, the Rams' QB has never revealed anything concrete, and that didn't change during the post-match interview.

That being said, nobody would mind seeing Stafford slinging the passes for another season. He led the league this year, with 46 touchdown passes and 4707 passing yards in the regular season.

Not only that, but he also became the third QB after Tom Brady and Payton Manning to have multiple 50+ touchdown seasons, including playoffs. Stafford accomplished that feat in 2021 and the latest season.
