Sean McDermott Issues Major Statement Over Josh Allen's Status as Starting QB

It looks like Josh Allen took his 'Whatever it takes' promise seriously, but it's come at the cost of potentially missing the playoffs with an injury.

Now, head coach Sean McDermott has some answers for fans.

“It trickles down. When your quarterback is that type of warrior, that type of competitor, from a leadership standpoint, it goes through the whole team. We got to get him as healthy as we can for next week... He took some hits today but there were also times when we protected him well.”

Allen completed 273 passing yards, scored one passing touchdown, and two rushing touchdowns. Allen had a claim to the game-winning one-yard carry, too, that came with little over a minute left.

Those numbers didn't come easy, though. In the first half, the Jaguars' defense dished out hits on Allen. When he crossed the goal line, he twisted his knee, forcing a visit to the medical tent. Despite this, he came back on the field to see the game through.

He also had to visit the tent due the risk of a concussion, clearing it to return to the field. But these injuries didn't hold back Allen, who spoke after the game.

"It was more of a precautionary thing. Just got rolled up on. And they wanted to take a quick look. But we’re all good."

Fans will want to keep an eye on the injury report.

But Josh Allen is still going strong despite multiple injury scares in the last few weeks

When the Bills took on the Browns in Week 16, Allen injured his right foot. And even while he was cleared to play against the Eagles in the following week, there was some lingering pain.

Positive X-ray reports let the Bills breathe a sigh of relief as Allen would be around for the final game. But as coach McDermott explained at the time, it's not going to stop Allen.

"You've got to know, to get [No.] 17 off the field, you're gonna have to ... I'm gonna have to wrestle him."
