Rookie QB Cam Ward Makes Surprising Admission as Titans in Hunt for New HC

Since firing Mike Callahan for poor results, the Tennessee Titans are looking for their next head coach.

Amidst their search, rookie quarterback Cam Ward, on Wednesday, admitted he wants to be involved in the hiring process.

"I want to meet all of them. Every coach who gets the opportunity to come here, I want to have conversations throughout the process with them.”

It wasn't just the poor record that pushed Callahan out. The top pick from the 2025 draft, Ward, wasn't able to develop and perform throughout the season. Ever since Callahan left, Ward has been able to get 8 touchdowns in the following two months. That could be one of the reasons he will be closely involved.

And it's not Ward's request. According to the QB, the Titans’ president of football operations, Chad Brinker, and general manager Mike Borgonzi, told him that the extent of his involvement is thorough.

And there are big names on the list of candidates

The Titans haven’t made much progress under interim head coach Mike McCoy, and stand currently at 1-8.

As per ESPN, a Titans source said the team is looking for strong leadership skills. The Titans want a coach who “will help establish an identity” and make the best out of rookies like Ward, Chimere Dike, Elic Ayomanor, and Gunnar Helm.

And according to NFL insider and journalist Albert Breer, there's a few names on the list, “Bears coach Matt Nagy or former Cowboys and Packers coach Mike McCarthy could wind up being the guy.”

But it won't just be a coach to fit their QB, according to Breer. “That hasn’t stopped the Titans from looking at a wide array of candidates, even guys such as Chargers DC Jesse Minter and Rams DC Chris Shula, who don’t fit into the above box.”

Another disappointing year comes to an end for the Titans, but the real work begins now. Do you think the Titans will find who they’re looking for?
