Reporter Clarifies Browns' Trade Stance on Shedeur Sanders Amid Growing Rumors

Shedeur Sanders has found himself in an uncertain position with the Cleveland Browns after failing to win the starting quarterback job. Deshaun Watson claimed the QB1 spot, leaving Sanders as his backup despite questions about what the young quarterback could offer.

That decision has fueled speculation about Sanders' future in Cleveland. With other teams potentially searching for quarterback help, rumors have suggested the Browns could trade the former Colorado star rather than keep him on the bench.

However, Browns reporter Mary Kay Cabot believes Cleveland has little reason to move on from Sanders. She explained that the team values its quarterback depth and sees Sanders as the next option if Watson cannot play.

"I know that the Browns don't want to trade him. He's next in line. He's next man up. And they always need at least two quarterbacks a year," Cabot said.

She also questioned why Sanders would request a trade when he sits just one play away from entering the game. With Cleveland needing reliable options at quarterback, keeping him makes sense for now.

Mary Kay Cabot and Shedeur Sanders aren't on the best of terms

Cabot's relationship with Shedeur Sanders became contentious during the Browns' quarterback competition over the summer. Her reporting and assessments of Cleveland's quarterback situation drew criticism from Sanders' family, with his brother Shilo publicly pushing back against the reporter.

The dispute added another talking point to the debate surrounding Sanders' standing in Cleveland. While Cabot continued covering the competition, the Sanders family challenged aspects of her reporting, creating a public disagreement between the two sides.

The tensions eventually became part of the wider conversation around Sanders' rookie season. That is all in the past though. Now, Cabot, like most of Cleveland's sports media, is curious to see what the future holds for Sanders.
