Ravens End 18 Year Relationship as Locker Room Left in Turmoil

John Harbaugh and the team are out of the playoffs for the first time since 2021, and also missed the AFC North title as well.

Ending the season with an 8-9 win-lose record did not sit well with the Ravens, and they took extreme measures: Fired Harbaugh. In a statement, Baltimore owner Steve Bisciotti called the decision incredibly difficult.

"Our goal has always been and will always be to win Championships. We strive to consistently perform at the highest level on the field and be a team and organization our fans take pride in. I will always be grateful for the extraordinary hard work and dedication displayed by John and his staff throughout the many successful years."

NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Ravens believed Harbaugh had lost control of the locker room. He also linked it to Lamar Jackson and the HC not being on the same page. This, he said, continued throughout the locker room and ultimately led to the firing.

Harbaugh coached the Ravens since 2008 and led them to 12 playoff berths in 18 seasons, Super Bowl XLVII, and six AFC North division championships.

He is among the few NFL coaches to win a playoff game in each of his first five seasons. The Super Bowl-winning head coach welcomed the decision with disappointment, gratitdue and appreciation.

He thanked the Ravens organization for believing in him, reflected on years “etched into eternity,” and expressed hope that his legacy was built on faith, always fighting, always believing.

John Harbaugh emphasized the importance of “meaningful & impactful relationships” with players and staff, expressed deep love for his family, and concluded by saying “all is well with my soul” because of his faith and gratitude for the journey.

"Finally, to the author and finisher of our faith, Gratitude for a Journey beyond anything I could have dreamed of on my own – All is well with my soul because of the Good God who guides and sustains me," he concluded.

The demand for John Harbaugh is high

ESPN analyst Adam Schefter reported that Harbaugh was expected to emerge as a favorite for the vacant job with the Giants. But it's not the Giants alone who are showing interest.

John Haurbugh's agent, Bryan Harlan, told Schefter that he received calls from seven NFL teams expressing interest in his client. That too, within 45 minutes of the firing.

There are currently seven empty head coach positions in the NFL, including the Cleveland Browns, who have fired Kevin Stefanski. What do you think? Can Harbaugh be the next HC for the Browns?
