Rams Pay Emotional Tribute After Dodgers Legend Loses Newborn Daughter

The Los Angeles Rams proved their love for the city goes beyond the NFL with their latest gesture for Alex Vesia.

For weeks, no one knew why Alex Vesia, the Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher, missed the entire 2025 World Series. The team management refused to share any details other than saying Vesia was absent because of a “deeply personal family matter.”

Recently, he and his wife, Kayla, revealed that they lost their newborn daughter, Sterling, in October last year. The couple broke the tragic news on Instagram.

Honoring her memory, the Los Angeles Rams presented the couple with the gift. Ahead of their divisional face-off against the Seahawks, the Rams’ players sent them a jersey named after their daughter, signed by the players.

Vesai put an Instagram story of the jersey on 26th January and thanked them for their kindness. He wished them luck for the NFC game. “Thank you to the Rams for all the love and kindness,” he captioned the photo.

In a show of LA camaraderie, Vesia added, “Cheering for you on, bring it home!”

Alex Vesia and His Wife Hold Firm

This update comes just two days after the couple opened up about their daughter's passing.

"There are no words to describe the pain we’re going through but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her," they wrote on Instagram.

While the cause of her passing is still unknown to the public, the couple took a moment to thank the Los Angeles Dodgers as well as the fans.

"Thank you to the Dodgers for their understanding and support during this time. Our baseball family showed up for us and we wouldn’t be able to do this without them...Thank you Dodger Nation, Blue Jays organization and all baseball fans for your love and support. We have seen ALL your messages, comments and posts. It’s brought us so much comfort."
