The Raiders may hold the No. 1 pick, and it's no secret they are in desperate need of a quarterback.

However, new head coach Klint Kubiak is not ready to commit to Heisman winner Fernando Mendoza.

In an interview on Wednesday, Kubiak revealed he has kept the door closed on the idea of Mendoza coming to the Raiders, leaving some fans puzzled.

“Really talented guy with a bright future, and we’ll see where he ends up, but we got a lot of work to do to get to know him before that time," said the Raiders HC.

Kubiak also praised Mendoza's "team guy" personality from his interviews following the National Championship victory.

Mendoza also directly avoided the question when Kay Adams jokingly asked whether he was going to win the Super Bowl with the Raiders on her show a few days ago.

"Whatever team you're asking, I'll give them my all," he said. Considering Mendoza's raw talent, the fans are really confused by Kubiak's statement.

Fans Are Divided on Klint Kubiak’s Stance on Fernando Mendoza

One fan agreed with Klint Kubiak's strategy and stated the Raiders needed to fill more important spots in the draft.

"IMO, you don't draft a franchise QB until you can at least protect him. Build your OL, and DL, first. You'll never be a champion until you can control the trenches. And this draft is pretty weak. I bet he's not that guy...."

Meanwhile, another fan was confident that Las Vegas was picking Mendoza. "They’re drafting him... he’s just smart enough to not let the rest of the league know that he’s doing over 2 months in advance," they wrote.

Kubiak just won Super Bowl LX with the Seattle Seahawks as the offensive coordinator. He has experience in running a successful team.

It's why one fan said, "Not that 'strange'. He's a brand new 1st time HC coming off a Super Bowl. He's going to an organization that has more than 1 hole to fill. Lots of work to do. He literally knows what a winning team looks like."

Another fan remembered the Raiders' old quarterback busts and supported Kubiak.

He said, "What wrong with what he said ? U have to do research on any player and more on a qb !! Im not a fan of his play he’s a system qb."

The NFL draft for the 2026 season is on April 23rd. Do you think Mendoza is the right guy for the Las Vegas side? Let us know in the comments!
