Tom Brady may be 48 years old and retired, but his latest flag football performance was so good that it left Browns experts debating if they would pick him as their QB 1.

Brady did not need long to remind everyone of what he could do. In his first competitive action in over 1,000 days, he fired two touchdown passes at the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, none bigger than a perfect strike to Stefon Diggs on fourth-and-goal.

In Monday’s episode on The Tony Rizzo Show, host Tony Rizzo commented that “Tom Brady looked pretty good” on Saturday in the Fanatics Flag Football game held in Los Angeles. To which another host agreed and added, “he could play right now.”

Co-host Chris Oldach disagreed not just with Rizzo and Evan Cohen, who raved about Brady avoiding “the rush.” He called out, “The rush of the 120-pound guy not wearing a pad. Or are we talking Myles (Garrett)?” before the Shedeur Sanders replacement case was made.

Eventually, the hosts went on to pose the rhetoric of whether Brady was to call Jimmy Haslam (team owner) in July and say he wanted to play QB, it would be impossible not to say yes, nonetheless.

Eventually, the Founders FFC could not win against Team USA. Regardless, Brady's performance gave the studio a chance for a passionate discussion. That being said, being a minority owner in the NFL means that Brady's days in the league are most likely done.

For now, the Cleveland Browns are still dealing with a major quarterback crisis, the most notorious one in the past five years.

Before 2025, the Browns had tried over 11 starters in the last five years alone and hadn’t landed their franchise quarterback yet. Last season, names such as Deshaun Watson and Joe Flacco joined rookies Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel 

Gabriel threw seven touchdowns for 937 yards, while Sanders scored seven as well, against 10 interceptions for 1,400 yards. Moreover, veterans Joe Flacco and Baker Mayfield exited, while Deshaun Watson has started only 19 games in the past four years.

The Browns are taking very cautious steps and are rebuilding their offensive unit from the ground up. Under Todd Monken, the head coach recently made it clear that the competition for the QB1 position is still open.

For a franchise like the Browns, which has never won a Super Bowl championship and has made only 39 playoff appearances in its 78 years, securing a strong and consistent franchise quarterback is the team's top priority
