Prayers Pour in for CBS Assistant as Jim Nantz Delivers Emotional Tribute After His Passing
In the midst of the PGA Tour’s Memorial Tournament in Ohio, CBS faced a tragedy with the passing of their production assistant, Bryce Adair. According to reports, he passed away on June 6. As the network mourns his loss, legendary sportscaster Jim Nantz paid Adair an emotional tribute.
Bob Pompeani had shared Nantz’s tribute in an X post on June 7.
“Trust me when I tell you that, in over 40 years, I have never seen our crew of 250 people come into a broadcast like this one carrying as much grief as they are now,” Nantz mourned.
According to the GoFundMe set up to support Adair before his passing, the 31-year-old was in a “horrific [sic] single car accident” on the night of June 3. The crash involved a single vehicle. As of June 7, more than $75,000 was raised.
“Everyone loved him. Every day, Bryce would greet you with a warm smile and a caring, compassionate spirit…He won an Emmy for our Super Bowl broadcast. The world was his, and he deserved the world. I’m the one who has a chance to tell you how much we loved him,” he further added.
According to FOX News, Adair was from Martinez, Georgia. He earned a degree in Mass Media from Valdosta State University. According to his LinkedIn profile, he joined CBS Sports in 2017. Adair’s profile further revealed not just his interests but also his aspirations for the future.
“I have a passion for sports, music, and cartoons and would like to one day have a career in helping produce the things that we take for granted everyday. God willing, I'll make it happen,” he had written.
Adair’s passing has saddened many who shared heartfelt messages online.
Jim Nantz’s Heartfelt Message Touched Viewers’ Hearts
Under Bob Pompeani’s X post on June 7, spectators shared their condolences for Bryce Adair. Many were deeply affected by Jim Nantz’s teary tribute.
“Jim Nantz is the absolute best. You can hear the emotion in his voice. What an amazing tribute for someone taken way too young,” one wrote.
Another held the same views on Nantz’s tribute for Adair and prayed for his family’s peace.
“Ok that hit me in the feelers. Jim Nantz with a beautiful tribute. Praying that God comforts this young man’s family,” they wrote.
Following this tribute, one of Aidar’s friends shared their pain over his passing. They also wished well for his mother.
“Man this one is difficult. I was friends with Bryce from the Masters. He truly was a remarkable human being and will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, Bryce. Prayers to his mother, Michelle.”
This tribute touched many hearts as some viewers commented on Nantz’s sincerity.
“Well this was the realest thing on television in a very long time. He must have really been a good soul. You could feel that. Praying for the family and that the hand of God be on them.”
“Jesus. That was touching. Clearly Bryce was well loved and respected,” another wrote.
Adair brought joy to many and impacted all those around him. He is gone too soon, but the ones who knew him, like Nantz, keep his memory alive. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and peers.
